Perhaps a pin in the form of the Arms of Germany?

Totally agree with Hamish; not all kilt pins are the same length or width and therefore wearing a different one in the same kilt will ruin the fabric on that part of the apron over time. If you wear a kilt pin (I seldom do), leave it on unless the kilt needs to be dry cleaned.

Yes, I like it! Now to find a pin with that design.

    New Fleur-de-Lis Kilt Pin

Today I received the Fleur-de-Lis Kilt pin ordered from Carse and Gowrie.

It is about 9 cm (3 1/2 inches) long. For a pic, check the link below my signature.

I've pinned it to my SWK Saffron kilt. It shows sort of golden, but it is bright silver. Hard to get a good color picture of the Saffron Kilt.

Now have 3 kilt pins and 4 kilts. Waiting on my X-Marks kilt pin to go with the X-Marks tartan I ordered on the last run. Any word on how that is coming?

    Tom,

You can PM KCW about the pin but I think all the ones in the original order have been posted. Mine was waiting on me Monday when I can home from an out of town trip. I would expect your's is wending its way towards Germany as we speak.

On Topic: I like "unusual" kilt pins too. I have two or three sword types but actually prefer the XMarks pins. I like the shape and love the two post type fasteners. Looking for more of that type. Someone mentioned the Queen's Brooch earlier in this thread. Hmmmmm. I have some antique Victorian ladies brooches that belonged to my great aunt. I may just have to pull those out and see how some of them might work as kilt pins.

P1M, does that by any chance say "Miracle" on the back? It sure looks like one of the old Miracle pins. Mine picks up the colors of my Kincaid tartan really well:
