I was thinking about this and glad to see there was already a thread on it.

Today I do all my polo shirts untucked - always. I used to get all sorts of grief when I had them tucked because it just makes my (cherry turnover) belly look that much worse. If I wear the shirt untucked then it helps to cover my belly which always seems to get larger.

One of the many reasons why I am buying a black UK is to get myself out there walking every night - regimental - in the desert under the clear starry skies. I just need to get some ambitiion behind me and the kilt will be a good excuse to get out there and my nightly walks will be a great way to get used to the kilt so I think it's a WIN-WIN scenario.

My ex wife once told me that I shouldn't be concerned about my belly protruding, it's natural with age. SO.....I'M GETTING FAT AND OLD??? Was she trying to make me feel better? I don't know about this getting old stuff, I don't think I like it. Now that I've reached 50, how do I start getting younger again? Have you ever seen the movie "Christine" where the car reaches a certain age and the odometer starts running backwards and the car gets newer? How do I do that?

My kilting started just a few years ago after my kids all left home. That is the same time I took up cycling again. The two activities cannot be done simultaneously, but truly complement each other, and I refer to them as my "youth retention program." The belly doesn't go away unless you MAKE it go away.

Almost back on topic - an alternative to wearing Hawaiian shirts with kilts is to wear Hawaiian print kilts. Then, using that most notable exception to the fashion rule, "Never mix prints," Hawaiian prints can be mixed and/or matched between top and bottom.
