I have been wondering what this is all about! Yes, if it IS a Las Vegas get-together next year, maybe, just maybe I could make that my 2007 overseas trip!

The prospect of spending a few days in brash, commercialised, Las Vegas is not really my cup of tea - nor have I ever knowingly set foot on a golf course (I lie! I have walked on the course at St.Andrews!) - but such an opportunity of meeting up with a phallanx of fellow X Markers on that side of the pond, might be too valuable to miss.

Sorry, I have obviously missed out on a lot here. Do we have dates confirmed?

I'll be over in Las Vegas for a conference first week of August and will be happy to do any advance scouting...particularly the Tilted Kilt....hope they serve chow too.

And, I have the same interest in golf that Ham does. My only golfing experience has been maning the keg at the 9th hole on company outings back in my boozing days.

Ham...it would be wonderful if you were able to come over for an event like this. I'm still sad that I missed you during the Vancouver get-together.

As for Vegas, yes it's very brash, but even for people who don't gamble the city and casinos can be fantastic places to visit. The noise and excitement is incredible, and the various hotels are incredible to tour. Also, there are tons of little museums and shops to wander about. There's considerably more to Vegas than one might think.

Golf? Hmmmmm...I've only played once, about 30 years ago when I was 12 or 13. As I recall I didn't call it "golf" after we finished. I think the name changed to "Whack-****".
It's would be great to see a rabble of kilties on a course, but I doubt that I'd be one of them.

I'm hoping if this event happens that it will fall sometime around the middle of April next year. Not too hot, and I should be able to get time off work for the trip.

Hey, I'm serious about a kilted AA meeting...or going to a local Las Vegas AA meeting kilted....for those of us who qualify of course.

If its too hot, or still cool with snow, Mt. Charleston isn't that far from Las Vegas for a kilted trip.

Las Vegas was gonna get a fleet of 50 double decker English buses to run up and down the strip. Don't know if it happened...if it did we could kilt up a double decker bus.

Or we could all go to Hart and Hunington and get matching X Marks tattoos.

This really sounds like a good idea. I'm not a golfer either, but would love to get together with the other non golfers to wander the strip & see the sites.

I think it would be a site just to see all the kilted gentlemen walking the strip.

Attending one or more shows as a group could be interesting. There are singers, magicians, comedians, and the more adult shows (the kilted rabble hitting Crazygirls comes to mind). Any or all, depending on personal preference could be arranged. We might even be able to swing a group discount.

For those interested, there are a couple of Hooters restaurants in Vegas. Of course, The Tilted Kilt would have priority.
