    Okay....well let's see.....

Yes, the Mocker is wonderful and you can't go wrong

No, the Mocker is not manly enough and I would never wear one

It is the best kilt ever, don't leave home without it

All the negative comments on my kilts have been Mockers

Does anyone else have any input??

I think what you have just discovered is that there are as many opinions here as there are people. You'll just have to drain your checking account and form your own. Check out the photos, listen to what people have to offer, but in the end, your likes and dislikes will have to come from your own experience, values, beliefs, and expectations.

I like the UK Original, the Mocker looks nice, and now I like the Stillwater acrylic standard kilts. I'm thinking I will just need to get one of each type and then decide for myself.

Yes, someday I will get a REAL kilt. I want my first REAL one to be a Swedish tartan, but I think I will wait until 2007 so my finances can recover. This year I can start out with a foundation of inexpensive kilts and then work on gettting some special ones later.

In my opinion you could wear a tie with a mocker plus some kilt hose (or any tasteful knee length sock.) You might even get by with a sport coat or blazer with the Mocker. But no Prince Charlie or Argyll jackets. Also no kilt pins, no flashes, and no sgian dubh. In other words, the Mocker is the non-traditional kilt equivalent of Dockers, so wear what you would wear with a pair of Dockers. With any of the other UK's I wouldn't go this far. Again, strictly my opinion.

As Rex has said, you will have to weigh what has be said and make up your own mind. Everyone will have different opinions. It's what you are comfortable with that counts.

Now that sounds like it would look really sharp!

Here in the Arizona desert when going to a new church I typically wear Docker trousers and a really nice polo shirt and think I am under dressed.

Then when I show up - because it is already over 100 degrees at that part of the day - all these 20-something people show up in faded denim shorts and T-shirts and I wonder Why do I bother?

Oh....on a side note.....it's almost funny to notice clothing choices in church because to some degree what people wear defines when they grew up. The 70-something people are still in the suits and ties.

Just a word of warning there, Darrell. Although Utilikilts are not traditional tartan kilts, ordinary sports jackets and blazers are still too long to look good with them. From the back (and for some guys, from the front!) the visual effect is to severely shorten the legs, making you look "all torso" A smart bomber or blouson style jacket would look so very much better.

Just try it in front of a full-length mirror and I think you'll see where I am coming from!

I pulled out a 20+ year old camel colored blazer. The short sleeve shirt and tie - not too bad. The blazer . . . OH MY G*D!! I've watched horror movies less frightening!! Thank goodness my wife was not home to see that! Thanks, Ham.
