Plaids

I know this is probably going to end up in the Dos and Don'ts thread (fly plaid on a Jacobite shirt - J. Higgins also shows one this way - with no formal jacket, brown shoes with black accessories, brooch maybe a bit too high)...

...but I like the way this outfit was pulled together. Is he casual or dressed up? I could imagine him going to a graduation party or a holiday party with friends - kind of along the lines of when I see people in jeans and tux tops. He has that devil-may-care look, as though he just pulled a bunch of stuff out of the closet and got on with his social schedule.

Not my bag either.

There's more than enough tartan in a kilt IMHO.

I do like the the idea of a matching plaid for the bride at a kilted wedding though.

I've worn them on a shirt that way, and found that the brooch pin needs to be high like that, otherwise the plaid tends to fall off the shoulder. Now if there were epaulets on the shirt, would stay better.
