Welcome! I too have shared your penchant for wearing the kilt to the classroom (currently from the student side), it makes for an interesting experience. I also share your scepticism of the non-traditional, but my interest has been growing since joining this site. I like Hamish's idea of the utilikilt, etc. as the "blue jeans" of the modern kilt-perhaps filling in where activities such as work might otherwise have detrimental effects on a beautiful (& expensive) kilt (see his well put commentary under the "Kilts in the Media section").
