Most excellent! Learning to play the pipes is not the easiest thing to do. I commend your son for his dedication, and you for supporting his dream. I can empathize w/ your joy-my daughter (who has always had a passion for dance) has begun competing in Highland dancing (Irish step as well) my heart takes a leap w/ every step. To not only see your child succeed in actualizing their dreams, but to be lucky enough to have their dream connect w/ the tradition(s) of their ancestors is truly splendid, and gives one a unique perspective on the interconnectivity of generations. I hope my son (1 1/2 yrs. old) will one day take up an interest in his heritage, I would love for him to play the pipes (I am lucky enough to know forum member wgority-who is an excellent piper & instructor, so I'll keep my fingers crossed!) at least he already has a kilt! Well met!!
