    Tain whisky?

Been too busy to lurk recently, but now back on line, I noticed a picture of a whisky bottle mentioning Tain l'Hermitage. Since this is near where I used to live in the Rhone Valley, may I ask what the connection is?
Tain (in France) is better known for its excelent red wine than for any foreign spirits!

    Martin,

in the single malt Scotch Whisky world...

it has become quite fashionable tae "finish" the malt whisky in anither cask...

after the whisky has aged for sae many years in it's original cask...

it is transfered tae anither cask (usually an ex wine, port, or sherry cask)

an it is aged fair anither 6 months tae twa years in the new cask....

the bottle o' Tain l'Hermitage Glenmorangie shown ablow wuz distilled in 1975 ...

aged in ex-bourbon casks at Glenmorangie’s hame in Tain, Scotland...

an then finished in Hermitage reid wine casks frae Maison Chapoutier at Tain in Northern Rhone...

I've seen some beer breweries do that, but only microbreweries. One place brewed a stout, then finished it in old oak whiskey barrels.
