That may indeed be a problem. Montreat is more accessable, the wilderness around Leconte may scare the city slickers.

Absolutely. Fred the dog goes with me everywhere. Looks like we need to meet at Jack's some Sunday evening and lay some plans!

I suggest, since we want to do this in support of Tartan Hiker, that we go to Montreat and let him pick the terrain and duration to match his rehab level. Maybe late October/early November?

I'm for that if he is. The timing will all depend upon his rehab progress and his doctor's blessing.
TH...Best of luck to you on the 21st. Keep us posted on your progress.

Tartan Hiker,
I've been prayin' for ya.
I'll be there for any hikes. I am not very experienced or in very good shape, so I may be just up to your recovery state. I'll make plans around it.
Stay strong,

First weekend in Novemeber is the Foothills Highland Games in Hendersonville, 20 miles south of Asheville, if there is any interest in making it a "multi-functional weekend".
Bill - you and Colin gonna be at Jack's on Sunday?

That would be nice, but its a Saturday only event. I was hoping that we would be doing an all-day hike on Saturday. I was thinking that for those who are driving 3-5 hours back home could use Sunday to drive back and be back to work on Monday without having to take vacation time.

we can always rig up a scottish-seat ( new twist on the swiss-seat) and bring you along! Always good to have a designated scotch-driver on a hike!!!
