I have a friend (pre-kilt) that does not like it when I wear the kilt. I have worn it to my lodge meetings and for some reason, he is offended. Now that I am going thru the chairs, I must wear a tux. He has told me several times that I can not wear the kilt while a lodge officer. Just you wait until I get the correct jacket. I'll show him. And I'm not so sure that my wife likes the kilt. She thinks I am showing off. I wanted to wear it to a family get together on the 4th, but my wife and the fact my home is not air conditioned changed my mind. I still wish that I had worn it.

Same here! My wife begs me not to wear it...she was fairly ok with it at first, but the more I wear it the more she dislikes it. I'm hoping that if I just keep wearing she'll give up and be ok

I have not lost any friends, my wife and children (all grown) approve of my kilt wearing, as does my mother-in-law. As has been said, if friends stop being friends over the kilt they were not real friends to begin with.

I have not lost any. I have some who just don't get it, but they accept the fact that I pretty much do as I please.

Losing friends because of what someone is wearing would be really sick...
What others said...should something like that happen (can't imagine it ever will!)...those are not friends.
My wife loves my kilts, my mother loves my kilts, my ex-boss hated my kilts, my friends expect me to be odd, my nices didn't even notice I wear something "funny"...most like my kilts...some don't. All is fine!

Hmm, maybe she is just a little jealous of all the positive attention you get while kilted
As with the rest of the rabble: have not lost any friends, but have met a lot of interesting people solely due to being kilted.

there are those who just dont get it, but deep down inside they wish they had the strength to wear the kilt. Have not lost any yet..
My girlfriend loves my kilt wearing. She's a keeper......

He and I were "talking" through email this week where you really can't tell when someone is kidding and I took some of his comments seriously....that were not....and I flew off the handle and sent some "mean" emails and then I never heard from him after that.
I have known him since 1968 and I knew what that meant - he HATES discussing sensitive topics through email for just that reason - he kids around, I take him seriously, and it's downhill from there.
We talked today and he doesn't understand it, he would never do it, but he respects the fact that I'm just having fun in my own way. Then in the same breath he says if you are doing this why don't you go regimental so you can REALLY enjoy yourself....

Nope, haven't lost any friends over my choice of clothing. My wife loves seeing me an a kilt as well, although she wasn't so understanding when I first started.
