I've read every post here tonight and at this point I'd like to take my virtual hat off to the moderators for doing an amazing job with putting with Us. Us of course being an eclectic, whimsical, insecure, obtuse and generally egocentric mob of (mostly) men who like to wear kilts in societies that have a fair amount of resistance to it.
I like that crowd, that's why I'm here.
That said, I wouldn't want the X-Marks moderating job for quids, and there are some here quite that possibly assume they'd do better. Funny thing about power in whatever capacity, often those who seek it are least qualified to weild it. But that another story...
I'm inclined to like the titleing system particularly for the pre 1000 or so for posters as it incourages participation as pointed out previously. I'd like to propose a voting system on a sliding scale for rank or title beyond and including the 3000 post. As the title/rank rises so does the vote value. For example:
0 - Kilted Member [New] =1
10 - Kilted Member =2
50 - Kilted Regiment =3
100 - Kilted Samurai(or alternate)=4
250 - Kilted Warrior =5
500 - Kilted Gentry =6
750 - Kilted Noble =7
1000 - Kilted Elder =8
2000 - Kilted Legend =9
3000 - Grand Defender of the Kilt =10
Moderator =10
The GDF can propose a title for themselves or one can be proposed for them by anyone. Obviously if they object to it then it would be unfair to run with the title, but a title can be negitiated case specifically (if they want one). It's not like it would happen every second day, and we can look forward to it.
Some of the martial artistists may be aware that once a Karate-ka goes beyond 10th dan Black Belt then they return to white belt. I think this a beautiful philosophy, and we could take a leaf from the book:
5000 - Grand Master of the Kilt
10000 - Kilted
Just Kilted. Nice and simple.
Erin.

I read smthg about changing the title "kilted samurai".... and i agree,.... in my case I purpose two options:
-Kilted spearman
-Kilted hunter
I think it fits better with the rest of the tittles.... although after this I think there will be many who will offer new options!
¡Salud!

We get titles for posting?!
I regard myself as a quiet late-bloomer (late-adopter) in most things. After I finally got around to joining the forum a few months ago, my eye was on my post count and title for the first few levels; it was an added impetus to continue participation. My 1/2 vote is to leave the lower levels alone.
Far beyond title, my greater rewards have been: 1) make better connections with the professional, semi-professional, and amateur kiltmakers here; 2) receive the psychological support of other kiltwearers (that means all of you), and 3) personally meet a few forum members, regarding them and many unmet others as friends.
At my posting rate, I'll be dead before 5,000, so... But for others, the idea of a mutually agreed personalized title sounds terrific. Put any nomination discussion or voting in the Celebration Zone and have as much fun with it as possible.

I don't care about titles, and I post when I feel I have something interesting to say (which doesn't include, "Me too...") or a question to be answered. And time.

Bravo! Do away with them alltogether!

I kind of like they way structured now. I don't have a problem with Samauri, but perhaps it could be replaced with something like kilted Knight? As for post padding, I have to admit to a little of that as I approached 1000 posts near the end of February. I'd been looking at my post count early in the month, and realized I could possibly hit 1000 on my birthday (February 28), and become a Kilted Elder on the on my birthday, so I did the math and increased my usual number of posts per day by 1 or 2 posts and acheived my goal. I hope I can be forgiven, it was, to me a special circumstance.
