Either of those look better than the method I used to get back down the hill after I wrecked my knee...lashed my right foot to my **** to keep it from flopping around and hopped down the trail on my other leg. I did have a couple of lads for support on each side, but that was the longest half-mile of my life.

    Good Luck!

If I remember correctly Tartan Hiker said his knee surgery was today. Let's wish him luck and a speedy, post surgery recovery.

Those improvised harness are actually quite comfortable. You figure BDU's are fairly thick and the load is distributed over you legs but and lower back so there's no major pressure points.

TH, may the surgeons blade move swift and true. Heal quickly.

I've an idea that is along the same lines. I've been wanting to do some type of a kilt hike event, but I'm too far away to join you all. How about we declare a day in the fall as "kilt hike day". This way kilties all over the world can hike some where, and then we can all compare our notes, and share our war stories here. There seem to be enough members here that we could have simultanious hikes in different regions. If we hold it in November Andrew might even be back from his journey. I know I'd be honored to spend a day on the train with him.
