    Shipping costs

Why is shipping from UK to US so expensive?

Is it that way from US to UK?

What about the non-US, non-UK folks? Is it expensive from US and UK both?

I'm asking becasue this has come up several times in recent threads. Rob was able to provide a flat rate for the pins. Is the US out much cheaper?

Thought the collective wisdom could shed light on the issue.

I believe Royal Mail postal charges here in the UK, for Inland and Overseas mailings, are proportionally higher than those of the US Postal Service.

I think this goes without saying but since the dollar is in the tank it causes disproportions in the mailing price. Certainly if the dollar were worth more the shipping costs would be lower to the states.

And since I was mentioned by name, I will let everyone know that the international shipping costs are an order of magnitude greater than to the US. That includes to Canada and all other countries, at least when using Global Priority Mail, which is (to my mind) the equivalent to First Class mail in the US, and has the advantage of tracking with no additional cost.

Sorry for that, I was just curious how the kilt pins were (stated) as a flat rate, while the experiences of imports into US were so high. I REALLY didn't mean to put ya on the spot.

By the way, THOSE KILT PINS ARE GREAT!!!!!!
    I got mine TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This just has been the subject (by highjacking in some cases) of several posts. I was wondering what was the differences (especially in the minds of this international community) between international shipping in and to different lands. Example: Is the US Postal Service cheaper than others (surprising, if so, in light of other expenses)?

    No thread highjacking needed . . .
    Spill the experiences.
