He looks very handsome in his first kilt

Here is a question about little boys and kilts. I know that it's really difficult to keep a growing boy in clothes because they keep outgrowing everything. Does a kilt have a distinct advantage over a pair of pants because if it is designed well it can grow with him?

Even better - with a piece of cloth and a belt, you can clothe them until the cloth actually wears out, and not just until they outgrow it.

With the way my own weight fluctuates, it's far easier for me to juggle the pleats in a belted plaid to resize the darned thing than to try moving straps.

Congratulations on the boy's first kilt. It looks wonderful and, more importantly, he looks very happy with it.

Barb's book, The Art of Kiltmaking, has many references to building in extra pleat material and hems to accommodate both girth and height additions. The instructions apply to both kilts for dancers, especially young people, and to kilts for adults.
