    Grand Prix, 1966

I just got the movie GRAND PRIX (1966) starring Jamed Garner, Brian Bedford, Montand, Antonio Sabato, and a bunch of lovely lasses. Also appearing is Toshiro Mifune, famous samuari star (never wears a kilt, so not a Kilted Samuari, I guess).

After 40 years and the death of its director, IT'S FINALLY ON DVD!!!!!!

I love this movie, as if the AVATAR doesn't give a clue.

In the special features is one on 1960s Formula One (called FLAT OUT: Formula One in the Sixties), which includes a long section on Jimmy Clark (whose car is my Avatar, and inspiration for my road car's paint job).

Any other fans of this movie here?

    What about F1 in general?

I haven't watched Grand Prix, but I am a F1 fan. I even named my cats Monty and Kimi. Given what had happened in the last 48 hours, Monty will always be a great F1 RACER in my mind.

I still have yet to decide whether I will watch the series that he will be racing in next year. I will have to wait until 2007 to make the decision.

Glad you got it DVD...I remember ti from having seen it at the theatres (second run neighborhood theatre).

It is gratifying when stuff you really want finally comes to DVD...a buddy of mine was waiting for some John Wayne stuff - notably "The High and the Mighty" - to come out and it finally did a few months ago...he was on cloud nine. I waited a bit for "Murder on the Orient Express" and when I finally got the DVD I had the pleasure of sitting down with my kids to watch it.

The two titles that we're waiting for on DVD:

    Steelyard Blues and

    Emperor of the North.

...but isn't it great to watch "Grand Prix" and see such a young James Garner?

    Best

You painted your car like that? I'd like to see a picture of that. You should put that in your avatar.

    I don't have a pic THAT small! (100x100) Otherwise, I would.

PS-> only side discs as magnets (usually off) and nothing on hood/bonnet except stripes (Miata/MX-5 hoods/bonnets are aluminum -> magnets WON"T stick).
