No I've never worn a tartan in court. I usually wear the black kilt in the District Court. When appearing in the higher Sheriff Court I wear a navy pinstripe trouser suit in New Zealand Merino Wool in deference to the Sheriff's unwritten and unspoken dress code as although I've often seen the Sheriff wearing a kilt outside of the courtroom, so far as I'm aware he never wears it in court and I don't want to upstage him in his own court.
