    I have worked with Fraser Hunting tartan (see http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=16994.) That military box pleat project is on hold for just another month or so. IMHO, the tartan colors are so interesting that pleating to the sett is the preferred option.

    I prefer sett. Sett is more civilian, stripe is more military.

    Having bought a bolt of tartan cloth I am making four kilts - three pleated to different stripes and one to the sett - the results are so different, each one is interesting - I think the choice of how to pleat has got to be purely personal, whatever strikes a chord in you.
