I thought I would maybe get a few pair from Sport Kilt, for the value. I have to be a bit thrifty at the moment. What worries me is that the kilt hose from Sport Kilt are "one size fits all." I wear a size 13 shoe, and usually have to buy big & tall socks--the standard "one size" are usually too small. So perhaps I should just get one pair for now in a large size just to be safe. I likely will not need to wear kilt hose until this fall, so that should suffice for now. Unless I get a tartan kilt before then . . . I just can't see wearing Birkenstocks with a tartan
Step one: Do a a search on this forum for Kilt Hose or socks and read the threads. This topic has been discussed frequently and there are a lot of good suppliers mentioned.
After you have seen what others are doing you can determine what will work for you.
My personal suggestion is to try the Kilt Socks from Hamilton Dry Goods as a great starter sock. They look great, they stay up without flashes, come in off white, and they are inexpensive.
Later you can shell out $30 for real kilt hose if you want to really dress up.
... I'll give flashes a chance. Now I just have to decide where to buy some kilt hose and flashes from . . .
By-the-by, as I have only the olive Amerikilt (on order) what colour kilt hose should I purchase? ... And maybe a pair of blackwatch tartan flashes. . .

Hamish suggests that with Utilikilts (and I would assume most modern kilts)
that if you wear flashes they be ones that match your kilt. So off to the fabric store you go to find some Olive ribbon!

Boy, I'm with Brad on this. I just slide flashes off and use the elastic when I want a flashless garter. Quick, easy.
Sometimes wear flashes with my UKs in the cool weather, sometimes not.
Play around with it, you'll find what you like.
