    New O'Neille "Tank"

After the loss of my trustworthy SWK Black Stewart I had to console myself by ordering a new hand made custom O'Neille tartan from DC Dalgliesh mill. It is being made by http://kathyskilts.com/ and she has been very helpful in the process. I'm having her order the materials and just now decided I'd like a fly plaid and flashes as well. I'm going to see her to be measured by the maker for an absolutely perfect fit. I've ordered a 16 oz tartan material upon her suggestion based on her experience with different mills. The tartan pattern can be seen here. http://www.lindaclifford.com/ONeill.html Thank you all for your insights as they have been very helpful in making up my mind. I've also decided on regimental pleating to the stripe. O'Neille

Good choice- that tartan pleated to the white stripe will give nice flashes of orange as it swings…

Congratulations O'Neil! I know from reading your past posts that you've wanted the O'Neil tartan for some time. Good to hear you're getting it. I have not YET commissioned Kathy Lare to build a kilt for me. But I will. Ohhhh will I. I'm saving my pennies. I rented the Prince Charlie and Coatee for my wedding from her. She's a doll. Very very nice. Class act even! I seriously can't say enough nice about her. If you want to see some more of her work look through Riverkilts photo album. He has 5 or 6 (that I can think of) made by her.

That's a beautiful tartan! But I'm curious, what happened to your Stillwater kilt?

    Good on you!

Glad to see that you're able to console yourself over the loss of your SWK Kilt.

I have to say that your SWK is not completely gone, though. I think it lives on as "The Kilt that couldn't be killed!" Still seems OK for 4-wheelin' and Such!

I think that the new tank will look great!!

By the way, a canvas "backing patch" on the SWK would look nice in subtly keeping the shape and tonality of the Black Stewart, yet allow the damage/character to show up close. (my $.02)

Congrats! Now that I am obsessed with wearing the kilt, I've been thinking about how nice it would be to comission a kilt made just for me One of these days . . .
