UK newsletter double Cincinnati connection
This months UK newsletter is out, and there are two Cincy connections. first a small article about a guy who has just named his home improvement business Utilikris, LLC because he wears UK's, and then a blurb about me and my web site.
Check us both out at http://www.utilikilts.com/newsletters/2006-07/news.html

Celebrity is starting to hit so close to home now!
When I'm out and about around town in my UK, as often as not, people can identify the brand of kilt that I'm wearing. Thanks to Adam and Kris are probably due for that.
Congrats on your notice,
Rex in Cincinnati

That's fantastic! I too have noticed that UK's have "brand recognition" with people. Kilt on Ohio!

And then right below those two items is the link to Big Paul's kilted celeb album, in its XMarks subdirectory! Utilikilts is doing well by its customers.

So, my friend, Ken, and I went out to Nicholson's this evening (well, yesterday actually, now). I wore the new 5-yarder McLeod hunting I got from Waynesville. On the way in, the doorman makes some snipe about at least he's not wearing a Stuart - I pointed out he got his tartan ID wrong. He was wearing full kilt in a very smart looking "family" tartan, but didn't name it.
There were several kilted servers - one guy had on that Buchanan ancient/hunting that I like so much, and the others I couldn't say - the girls were all in tartan-like minis with black leggings.
Shortly after we were seated, a family of four walks in. Ken spotted the UK (olive Mocker, I think) and calls it to my attention. The family is seated at the table next to ours. After they place their appetizer orders I lean over to the fellow next to me wearing the UK and ask if he's from Cincinnati.
He grins a little and has that not-this-question-again look (I think he must have assumed I thought he was from Scotland - we've all had that conversation, aye? - but I was really just trying to ascertain the visitor/resident thing), but says he's from the west side.
Yeah? So am I!
He says he wears the UKs for his business and he's got several.
It turns out that he's UTILIKRIS, mentioned in the newsletter referenced above! I say yeah? I've heard about you! And at this his family looks a little surprised at his fame. So I tell him about Xmarks and how it was that I came to know about him.
[Oh, and Ron, he's a Wiedeman, too.]
He suggested that we have a Cincinnati kilt night - imagine that - so I got his card. I might even call him for that handyman thing he does too, who knows.
Regards,
Rex in Cincinnati
