			Kilted Weekend

I'll have to admit I've not been one who wears a kilt out on a daily basis. However, this year I've been putting my toes in the water a little more. I've started wearing my kilt to work on casual days, I took one on vacation and I've gone out a couple of times here at home in one. Friday I wore my UK to work and got the usual comments and extra attention (some female whistled at me as I walked around a corner but I just kept walking) and then I met my family after work for dinner at Fire Mountain. The waitress made a comment about my "dress" and I just told her it was a kilt. She said "But everybody gonna be callin' it a dress!" I smiled and said "I know and I wouldn't wear it if I couldn't take it."
Then today my wife and I went to grab some lunch at TJ's Deli and I had been working around the house in my All Ireland Green Sport Kilt so I just left it on and we went to eat. I stuck my Ireland ballcap on my head as I walked out the door. We got there and the place was packed. While we were standing in line these two cute young ladies, high school age I'd say, came up beside us and were standing there staring at me. I noticed one had a camera. They were talking excitedly and said something about Ireland. Then one looks at my cap and says, "It says Ireland! He's Irish!" I put on my best Irish accent and my most innocent expression and said "Whatever would make ye think that lass?" They exclaimed,"The KILT!! The ACCENT!!" Then they asked if they could take our picture. My wife said she would take a picture of me with them instead so I posed there in the middle of a crowded restaurant with two beautiful gals. They explained to me that they loved Ireland and had plans to go there in another year or so. I finally had to tell them I wasn't really from Ireland but I did have Irish ancestry. Maybe the best thing was that my wife saw how much fun it is to go out kilted once in a while. I think she was slightly stunned at the attention.

To top off the weekend I also put in an order for a Fraser Casual from USA for my youngest son, not to mention the fact that the FitzSimmons cloth arrived as you've probably seen in the Pictures Forum. I'm going to have a 5 yard made for me by Matt. All in all it's been a good kilted weekend!

A good read, there. Yes sometimes a kilted weekend comes up - Friday night I was out with my wife and two other couples for dinner, kilted. Today went to Campbeltown festival, kilted (see pics on show us your pics forum). Tomorrow, Sunday, I'm on duty at the aviation museum, so will again be kilted.

I think that ANY of us who enjoy wearing kilts at home would really be missing a great deal of fun if we put on something BORING to go out. I mean....what's the point?

Today I was at Sears and a woman appeared from out of nowhere and wanted to help me. She asked if I was Scottish, I told her no I'm Swedish and just think a kilt is so much more comfortable. She said she really likes seeing guys in a kilt.

Then I went to Home Depot and once again a woman suddenly appeared and wanted to help me find something.

I don't know....maybe wearing a kilt is the way to get better service at these places.

Considering how hesitant you were to wear a kilt outside just a month ago, Phil, this is certainly refreshing to see. Have to admit, I wondered if you'd actually ever do it. Now - just weeks later - you're kilting about like a pro. Good on ya.

Last night I was walking by the pool area in my apartment complex and a young guy yelled out, "Hey, I love your kilt, man!"

The young guys seem to be quite positive about these kilts
