Inserting The Side Slash Pockets are an integral part of the build process. They are put in just before the tapering.
I'm not sure I would want to tackle putting them into an existing kilt.
I have found I'm not that good at hand work with a needle and thread. And putting pockets into your Tank sounds like a total re-build project.

Yes the fell is sewn down and fully tapered (in both directions and aspects.) And yes, the steeking line is a machine sewn line. I tried to hide it in the pattern. It will be visible to the trained eye. (forgive me Barb, for I have been tested and found wanting)

Sorry guys, this is not a hand-sewn Tank. I didn't intend it to be. It's machine sewn throughout.

The inside of the fell is not cut-away as on a Tank. I'll take a pic of the inside today and post here.

Thanks Steve. That is what I thought. And for the record, I would NOT try this on a tank first (especially as I don't own one!), but I might consider trying it on one of my SWK's, that way I am not sacrificing a $500 tank if I mess it up.

And this comes out on the day that Matt Newsome emails to say he is ready to start my XMarks kilt. He wants to verify how I want it pleated and now I'm torn again.

Beautiful job Steve. VERY nice looking kilt.

Very nice job, Steve. I will have to drop by and see it the "flesh", so to speak.

    Pockets?

Steve, what happens when you put some item in the pockets? Does it make the aprons bulge? Or does that depend on how much you put in them?

Nice. Very, very nice, Steve. I thought I'd decided on pleating to the sett, now I'm going to have to think on it again. I'll be staring at your pictures a LOT.

I know an SF Bay Area X Marker that has Hillwalker, now if I can just think of his handle!
