2 options with the chain...
1. Cut it to length
2. Clip on 1 side and run it around behind you. Run it THROUGH the metal rectangle on the back of the sporran and DOUBLE IT BACK on itself. Clip the chain to itself where it will sit nicely in front.

You could always order one of those really nice braided leather sporran straps from Robert at Rkilts.
Just thought I would help you along the road to recovery so you can start over again.

OR buy a kilt belt from Cavscout
(or a MacGregor special from Tartan Musuem, or another vendor)

I ended up cutting it 2" shorter, and that seems to be just right. But . . .
I did order some sporran belt loops from Buzz Kidder Anyone else use them?
