Believe it or not, the ashes of a former romantic interest of my wife's co-worker are also on that flight.

Throughout his life he was contacted by several people who told him that his "Scotty" character was the reason they pursued a career in technology and engineering.

I count myself amongst those who chose a career path partially based upon his character although I never contacted him to tell him that - I figured he had enough people telling him that already.
