For years I kept my private life very much to myself whilst at work - or I thought I did! After maybe 22 years with the Company, I took my secretary/PA to lunch to celebrate her birthday and, in conversation she asked me about Tom, my lifetime partner. That took the wind utterly from my sails, as I did not think anyone knew about him, let alone his name. When I obviously showed surprise at her knowledge, the lass told me, "Don't give me that! We've all known about you two for years!" After that, life became SO much easier.
PS: I never found out how everyone knew so much about me!
