Hey folks....I am looking for some good 'new' Celtic music. Anyone have any suggestions for me? I am hoping to find some current bands/artists that are out now. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks. Dave
Hi Dave, Have a look at... http://www.barleyjuice.com/ http://www.dropkickmurphys.com/ http://www.enterthehaggis.com/index.php http://www.mudmen.ca/ Your welcome, Dave.
I would recommend that you go to itunes, yahoo or google and search for "celtic" +podcasts: This is one of my favorites: http://www.celticmp3s.com/podcast/ There are many others that you will find in your search, the nice thing is that it costs nothing to download them. With podcasts you can just download them and play them. This will allow you to hear a bunch of bands and buy thier music if you like them.
Simple go to http://www.celticradio.net/php/playing.php and listen. See what you like and see what you don't like. From there is is easy to find great music. Now in My opinion, essential albums I enjoy are: Long Black Veil -The Cheiftans (and guests) Another Round - Barleyjuice for the pipes anything from the SFU pipeband is amazing The Hard and The Easy - Great Big Sea (some old Canadian Maritime classics) for a little mor efun try some: Real MacKenzies Dropkick Murphys Flogging Molly This one is on my to get list right now http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...e=UTF8&s=music
You can get some GREAT stuff from Green Linnet . They have some awesom compilations. I'm a big fan of Altan. If you like Irish music, you may also like Blackthorn. James

Try listening to one of the podcasts on : http://www.celticpodcastnetwork.com/ I've subscribed to a few: The Irish and Celtic Music Podcast, the Pacific NW, and the Pure Brilliant.
I second Colin's suggestion of The Chieftans "Long Black Veil" as well as their "tears of stone". Cheers

Here are a few to try. Gaelic Storm who just released another great CD. Fun, upbeat celtic music and great live show. http://gaelicstorm.musiccitynetworks.com/ A mixture of both traditional and a little more rock in their mix would be Rathkeltair. http://www.rathkeltair.com/ For a very tribal beat try Albannach. http://www.albannachonline.com/ If you like it more traditional, I highly recommend the old blind dogs. http://www.oldblinddogs.co.uk/

One of my favorites is the Wicked Tinkers (www.wickedtinkers.com). Aaron Shaw is an amazing piper. If you are in the Southern California area, the Whooligans (www.thewhooligans.com) do some really great traditional american/celtic music. They also do live shows in the area three or four times a month.
