Just a thought, but for those kilts that have the two loops at either hip, you can fold them so the loops come together and hang the kilt on a peg. This is their original purpose in the military kilt, at least for the other ranks who didn't get much closet space in barracks.

Since we all know how expensive kilts can get, I'm making my first demo kilt-carrier/ roller from duck cloth. I'll have a pic up when I manage to get the first one finished.

I like the idea of the folding chair bag, but I think it may not be stiff enough, the rolled kilt will just flop.

based on the previous post, the one I am designing will be semi-rigid. It won't be solid, like a plastic case, but will have a stiffener sewn in to prevent it from just flopping over like a wet noodle.

That was my thought too, if the bag is used alone. But if encased in a tube, such as a nylon stocking, orthopaedic webbing (stretchy elastic/cotton used in casting) or the drainage tubing I mentioned above, I think the kilt wouldn't flop - the "casing" would help maintain the rolled shape and the stuff sack functions as the carrier and an extra layer of protection.
