The versatility of the kilt is huge so what you wear with it can vary greatly.
In formal situations, you can get ghilies or wear just normal black shoes. Most typicall wear a leather lace up shoe of some sort.
For casual situations the options are virtually limitless depending on taste. Teva sandles, hiking boots, dress shoes, ... Whatever suits your taste.
The shirt, sporran effect the outfit formalness as well as whether you wear hose up to the knee or scrunched down to the top of the shoe.
