Any advice on ironing technique for us first-timers? My saffron arrived yesterday and I'd like to get it all pretty. I've got some ideas for a DIY kilt hanger as well. If it works I'll post some pix.

I'm just planning on setting the iron to "wool" and running it over the apron's and hitting the pleats real quick. I think the weight of the kilt will pull the wrinkles out for the most part if it is hung up for a while.

Ahh..good review but this is making me jones mine even more. I didn't have the heart to tell my wife I ordered one without telling her so I grabbed the package when it came in the mail and hid it under the bed. Now I'm out of town until Friday night and can't even have a peak at it. Hopefully nobody will post any pics of their new SWK solid wool kilts

Great pics! I like the black shirt and hat. The neutral colors seem to really draw out the brightness of the kilt. I may steal the idea. Until then, I have to keep from ventilating thinking about the package hiding under my bed.

Have you thought of a good reply for if she finds it?

There's a reason I keep nice pillows and blankets next to the couch. My best bet is to tell her I've made enough money on my per diem money on my current trip to cover the expense (which is true). Still don't think it will go over well though. Better buy her some flowers before I get home on Friday night.

    "It's Ugly"

Well, when I got home last Monday (was it just last Monday? Seems so long ago in X-Marks Posts) my wife was at the kitchen table and the package from SWK was too. But she was paying no attention to it (can't understand that). I sort of nonchalantly absconded with it to the bedroom and tore it open. Tried it on. Liked it, so I took out the pleats and tried it with a few accessories. Next day I pressed it and hung it in our shared closet. It took her until last night to notice it. She brings it out and says "You didn't tell me the kilt had arrived." I reply "Yes it came on Monday. I thought you saw the package." Whereupon, she states her opinion of the garment: "But it's so ugly!". This gave me the opening to inform her that I have a Modern Gordon traditional on order that will look much better. Her rejoinder - "But this one's so ugly." I just shrugged and said "OK." She walked away muttering something about passive-aggressive...

I think that qualifies as a draw.
