I haven't really run into any kind of negative reactions, but if I do, I think ignoring them is the higher road to take. One ignorant person is not going to dictate how I choose to dress. If they think I'm dressed oddly, too bad. Odds are, I think the baggy jeans bunched betwwn their knees and the oversized t-shirt/hoodie/whatever look pretty stupid. My opinion, but I don't say "hey, why are your clothes falling off moron?" I keep it to myself.

If someone has something negative to say, hopefully there will be few witnesses Seriously though, I don't need to join the idiot club with them, so screw 'em.

I was at the mall with one of my sons yesterday and some kid with his britches hanging half way off his butt made some rude comments about my kilt. My son looked at him, walked over and loudly told him to pull up his pants, the skid marks were showing. I laughed so hard I could hardly stand as did most everyone around us. The kid departed quickly.

    Oh that's priceless!!
I'd buy your son a drink (if he was of drinking age and I was living locally - which I ain't)... instead, please pass on my praise for his quick wit and intelligence (obviously inherited, right?)

    cheers!

It's a big world with a lot of idiots. Actually mostly idiots. You can't set them all right.

My other platitude is this: Some people just need to feel superior to everyone else somehow and the kilt makes an easy target.

Either way, choose your battles. And don't make fun of the kids with huge pants covered with zippers and chains and clips and whatnot. You dress funny, too.

Friday I was shopping with my lovely wife and children at Target. I got a few smiles, mostly people didn't react one way or another. Then two large "Frat Boy"* types in shorts and atheltic T-shirts walked past me and stared. Then started laughing. I felt no anger but suddenly had an insight, a moment of enlightenment, a merest instant of Satori as to the purpose of kilts:

    They are idiot detectors!

The kilt causes fools to reveal themselves. We the wearers are now informed and will not waste a moment of our time with those unworthy of our attention.

    Cheers

    * My apologies to any Fraternity Brothers here for this generalization

I knew there was a reason I wore a kilt. Community service!
