I haven't really run into any kind of negative reactions, but if I do, I think ignoring them is the higher road to take. One ignorant person is not going to dictate how I choose to dress. If they think I'm dressed oddly, too bad. Odds are, I think the baggy jeans bunched betwwn their knees and the oversized t-shirt/hoodie/whatever look pretty stupid. My opinion, but I don't say "hey, why are your clothes falling off moron?" I keep it to myself.
If someone has something negative to say, hopefully there will be few witnesses Seriously though, I don't need to join the idiot club with them, so screw 'em.
