It simply amazes me that women, who have demanded equal rights with men and to shed the moniker of "the weaker sex" insist on holding to natural concepts of decency for themselves thus maintaining a "seperate place" in society from the men they wish to be equal with. I am by no means a shovinist, but it seems to me that the feminist movement has a few biases it needs to shed if it is truly to attain its goal (which I think is nebulous at best to most of its adherents).

Bloody hell, I wish someone thought of me as the 'weaker sex' and thought I should be taken care of. Given the circumstances, I'd jump at the chance to be locked up in a kitchen somewhere with a houseful of kids instead of working 80+ hours a week trying to make ends meet with a healthy risk of getting shot!

At the end of my first marriage, My ex pounded the piss out of me right on a main street where I lived. I just pushed her away when I got tired of the smackdown. 3 days later, a cop shows up at my door with a summons. She had the nerve to call the police and press charges. I had spent a night in the local ER getting xrayed and 3 days out of work and I get arrested.
When we went to court, My lawyer is playing footsies with the Asst DA. Over pillowtalk, they decided the case had no merit and in court , the case was dismissed. My lawyer wanted me to file a countersuit. I said no. But I took the tags off of her vehicle and cancelled the insurance just after i left court on a Friday. Maybe she shouldn't have called My parents as her witnesses. Never was the brightest bulb on the tree. That was 24 years ago. been married 21 years to new wife. I still won't strike a woman. No matter what.

The rules just aren't the same for men and women (at least here in Ohio). I have been kilt checked numerous times (even right in front of my wife). I have been photgraphed by cameraphone (called up-skirting here). My friend was assaulted by his wife in front of witnesses, locked himself in his car without retaliating, called the police, and summarily escorted off his property.
He filed a restraining order against her, but HE is not allowed on HIS property.
    Sometimes its hard to understand.

Blame the feminazis for that, Lass. Too bad there are not more women like you who realize that being a wife and mother is nothing to be scoffed at--it's a wonderful thing, and that doesn't in any wise make women inferior to men; in fact, it reveals a particular strength that women have over men. Glad to have you here!

There are two kinds of feminism, gender feminism and equity feminism. Gender feminism is aimed at the subjugation of males while equity feminism is aimed at simple equality in the workplace and under the law. Gender feminism is behind much of the poor treatment of men by law enforcement through political action.

    Not my intention

    Hiya folks!

When I started this thread, it was to just point out an interesting development in legislation here in Australia. It certainly wasn't my intention to raise old ghosts, raise peoples hackles or to raise a controversial topic.

As a person who subscribes to a personal policy of "gender equity", and who will rapidly point out any instances of men being on the receiving end of unfair opinion/treatment/behaviour(s) (and for the record, I also will stand up for unfair / sexist behaviour towards women)... so I figure I'm in good company on this discussion board.

But mebbe... just mebbe.. we should tone the conversation down a tad?? I don't want to be the cause of the moderators stepping in.

    thanks folks

    Hachiman
