Like Rex, I wonder how the casual look would be with shirt/hose matching the light blue stripe… Or black woukd really bring out the yellow.
Congratulations on #65!
Hello, S.H. and thanks for your kind comments.
Since receiving this kilt I have spent hours (literally) going painstakingly through my fairly extensive wardrobe of shirts, and brosing my local shirtmaker's shop, trying to find one in blue to match the blue in the tartan. I found one, a polo shirt, but when put with the kilt there was just far too much 'noisy' colour for me to feel comfortable with - it was all too bright and garish. As for hose, yes it would be perfect if a match were to be found but, unless I have a pair especially knitted, I do not think they exist. The Sock Company (Country) has something close, a little lighter than Lovat Blue, but it is just not close enough for my liking. "A poor match is worse than no match!" The blue in the tartan is actually rather bright!
I agree with you about wearing black, and it works well - I wore the kilt this morning with a black shirt. However, ideally that means black hose as well, and black shoes or boots ........ a tad too much black for a warm sunny day, I'm afraid, but it might do better in the winter with a black leather 'bomber' jacket. I'll try to snap some photos at the weekend.
I appreciate your thoughts and comments.
