It arrived yesterday and I rushed upstairs to try it on. Perfect fit, so I worked feverishly to remove the basting stitches, got the right shirt, hose, and sporran, and ran downstairs to show Karen. She looked at it and said "wow, it looks alot better in person than it did in the pics". I love my wife.
Are you sure your wife's name isn't Cindy? She gets home last night as a friend and I are having our Friday fellowship (Black Velvet for him, Laphroaig for me). She settles in with a beer and asks Robin if I had showed him my kilt (she still hasn't seen it on me yet, just on the hanger). I go to get it, but instead of returning with the hanging garment, I get all done up in casual style with a black polo, charcoal hose down over hiking boots, belt, sporran, pin - the works. It looks really sharp that way. When I come out she says "Hmmm. I have to say it looks a lot better in context." You'd have to know her to understand what an understated person she is, so I actually think she liked it. But I'd still have to say, pursuant to the S.O. support poll thread, that she doesn't care whether I kilt or not. But I have informed her that kilt #2 is being made up in Scotland, and she really didn't bat an eyelash. I'll take laissez-faire as a good start.
