    Conference attire

So, I will be presenting the keynote address at a conference in Boston next Tuesday morning. I am planning on wearing my XMarks kilt, XMarks kilt pin, grey shirt, royal blue tie, stone hose, and navy flashes, with a newly cut down kilt jacket.

Here is a pic of everything, at least in the correct colors. I will be wearing a long sleeve, button down corporate shirt in the same gray, a royal blue tie, the same hose, but pulled up with navy flashes, and black wingtip shoes. Anybody have an opinion? It is a business casual affair, but since I am a speaker, I want to go more formal for the presentation.

Just the kilt and same colored accessories:

I am also considering wearing this jacket, but it has been cut down for kilt wear:

Sounds good, I can imagine it and would probably think it was just fine if you posted a picture of the complete outfit. You may want to incorporate a white non-button-down shirt if you want to look more polished. Button downs look better without ties. Look into medium to wide angle collars as they expose a nice tie better and you don't have that big bunch of collar buttons and tie right under your chin. I think it would also look better with your face. A white shirt will go with everything and lighten up the dark jacket a little. O'Neille

Sounds like a winner, Rob. I agree with the above - go to the white shirt if you wear the jacket. If you ditch the jacket, the gray shirt will be fine.

Don't be afraid of the button-down collar and DON'T wear one of those hideous wide spread ones. No tie ever looks right with those things.

The navy flashes will get you by, but consider some royal blue or ancient blue ones in the future. They'll work together with the tie and really set off the x-marks kilt.

And I'd suggest switching to a navy blue Band-aid.

On second thought, it should probably be black to match the leathers.

I'm pretty sure that leg bandages should match either the hose or the flashes.

You have to take the "Bluetooth" thingamajig out of your ear though....unless it has a Celtic cross or Scottish Thistle on it.

    Just won't match....

    Otherwise....

OK, I will post a pic or two before the conference, assuming I get 10 minutes between the drive back to FL and the flight back out to Boston!

And the hands free unit does come out most times. I use it mostly in the car and unfortunatelty, I usually snap my kilt pics in the morning just before I get into the car to go to work!

I'll keep the white shirt recommendation in mind. I had the same thought that the white shirt would look better if I wear the jacket, and the gray if I do not.

    KCW,

It sounds like you won't have time but getting different hose would be great addition to your outfit.
Hamish has those beautifully different hose with the blue/yellow check pattern his wears with his Xmarks pics.
Robin also has a really eye catching pair with his XMarks kilt...it looked (based on my monitor) to be yellow hose with grey tops.

I can envision it KCW at his conference chatting with other attendees who are focused on his outfit:
He coughs and says 'I'm up here.'

Anyone else have a flashback to those teenage years

Have a good time in Boston!

If you are up on a stage be aware of the eye line of the front row audience - stay away from the front of the stage where there is an unobstructed view, unless there is copious floral intervention or other decoration to prevent inspection.
