Welcome from Carlisle England--I think getting you outfits together takes trial & error. Post pictures & you will get different opinions

OK, scratch the shoes. They look much better online than they do in the store.

Looks like it would go together pretty well.
I'm cautious about the belt, though. A fair amount of metal on there to snag the material.
Take a look at these from Blackhawk:

or for a "heavy duty" look:

It would also go better with the nylon sporran.

why not?
Check this out! The army standing orders for Scottish Dress uniforms... This dress order is "SD1" (Scottish Dress 1)

Get a button up kahki shirt to go with it, and it will look fine, no, GREAT.
Army Standing Orders
The orders to look for.
SD1 Scottish Dress 1 (Scottish Ceremonial Dress)
SD2 Scottish Dress 2 (Scottish General Duty Dress)
SD3 Scottish Dress 3 (Mess Dress)
SD4 Scottish Dress 4 (Mess Dress - White Jacket)
SD5 Scottish Dress 5
SD6 Scottish Dress 6
I've been thinking about doing this myself, being I have one of those military belts as well... I think this would make an interesting themed look for the Highland games, say a group of guys... maybe pipers going for a casual military look...?

I agree with Panache, too. Everythin gyou've got thereis kind of "edgy...non-traditional. So why not get a non-traditional kilt pin, eh? Ont he other hand, if you just really want that clan kilt pin, then go for it.

I use a military belt, as in SD1, with my DPM kilt - even though it is not a military design fabric.
It works well - and they last a long time, mine was army surplus in 1969 and has been used for caving, climbing, sailing and just general everyday. It was black when I got it and is now light grey, but otherwise is as good as ever, but I think I need to pay some attention to the metal work - the one in the picture does rather put mine to shame.

Standard kilt belt buckles can be easily fitted to the nylon pistol belts, they are both 2.25".
I have a black-finish celtic buckle on my nylon pistol belt.
Good lord, that SD3 mess dress with the red jacket ...Give Santa his jacket back!

Thanks for the tip on the belt buckles. It never occured to me that the two were compatable.

I didn't know kilt buckles would fit onto parade belts either until I saw that video on the Stillwater site showing the kilt wearer drawing his weapon from that nylon sporran.
Anyways...one of the guys on here gave me a great link to Parade Store and they have a few cool parade belts in both nylon and cotton. Neat colors too...olive green, and navy blue for cheap!
And oh yeah, if you're going for a non trad look with all that nylon, I'd go for a heavy black motorcycle type boot and a more modern kilt pin as well.
*edit- parade store webpage is acting a bit funny today for me.
can any of you guys access it?

No problems with the site here.
Parade store is where I get my white gloves. I've been doing business with them for more than six monthes and have never had any problems.
We now return you to your regulary scheduled thread.
