When you can't find matching boots
After weeks of internal struggle, and many great ideas from fellow Xmarkers, I decided to give up the quest for a great indestructible black boot to wear with the kilt.
I've just returned from the leather shop, and will be making a sporran to match the boots I already have. It should be an interesting experiment. I'll post pics as I go.
oh, and just to make thing's worse...I'll be double jonesing the whole time, as I've got a dark-brown and black Freelander sporran on order! This will be a fun time I am sure.

You know, I just got my first kilt and I've noticed that boots are really gonna be an issue...... All of the boots that I own are too tall!! Thats what I get for shopping at Goth Pockets (Hot Topic) for footwear I guess I'll have to stick with my "Chucks" for now or untill I find some decent boots...

It occured to me that these might be not so bad...though the insulated ones would be a bit toasty for general wear.

Hamish's album is an excellant place to see which boots look good with kilts.

I wear Justin workboots ... they've got an indestructable classic lace-up workboot in black leather. I also wear a pair of Justin "Ropers" in black leather, shined up, for dressier occasions. Of course, I can get Justin boots easily here, don't know if they have them where you are.
Basically I wear brown boots for days and black boots for evenings ... anybody else do something like that?

that is exactly what I'll be doing. My black leathers will be relegated to evening and more formal wear, with browns being daily wear. Far easier to get great looking brown boots that will last than black ones from my personal experience.

KT, Justin has both black work boots and nicer looking, though lighter weight, black lace-up boots. The nicer lace-ups shine up very well and have leather souls for dancing. If you take an interest in getting a pair of these I'd be delighted to help, I could even buy them and send them to you. Shoot, you could just send me a check written out to Justin with the exact amount if you wanted or simply pay for them over the phone. I get lots of compliments on my 'dancin' boots'!
Anyway, let me know if I can help, you'll have to contact me through regular Email @ crw113@yahoo.com.

Found some green suede workboots that really go with green-based tartans. Also got some tan ones that go with my chocolate Workman's, khaki UKs and AK. Now looking for blue...seen some hiking ones.

Kilted KT,
Did you get the same one I did, or the reverse?
