I have a Loch Ness tartan kilt i just recieved from sport kilt. I love the pattern. I also ordered a Scottish National from Rocky at USAKilts I like that patterned a lot. I think next on the list will either be an Irish National for St. Patties day, or Possibly a Clergy Acient since Im a Rev.

Caledonia looks rather nice (just ordered a kilt in that tartan), I also really like the Jacobite tartan, but I do not know if that one counts as a "universal" tartan or not. If we are talking about non-clan affiliated tartans (as in districts would count as fair game), I am also partial to the Aberdeen and the Huntly tartans as well.

The Caledonia tartans No. 155 and No. 3 were recorded by Wilsons of Bannockburn in 1819 (designs are prolly pre 1800) as universal tartans.

    Caledonia No.155 (modern)
