i like them both! Well Done!
I'm wondering if you could snap some grommets for holes around the top of the first one and string a leather thong through it to close it up a bit more?

Yes. There is an appendix on sporran-making. Freelander sporrans are pattend after it.

I probably could, but I found that the front of the sporran is mis-aligned, so I'd have to take it completely apart to make it right, but, it could happen.

It's true to say that we did indeed start with the Thompson book. Our basic shape came from there. However we have improved on and, refined it . Number 1 (First sporran we made)is the nearest we have to a direct copy from the book. With a little omission of the gusset. (Back and front are sewn directly together)

Here a picture...It seems so long ago. The sporran still gets used a lot to. Sporran making is fun. Thats why I do it.So have a try

    All the Best.....David.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you haven't made your own innovations. I just remember you posting to this effect previously.

Here are a few pics of the clasps themselves, both in nickel and antique brass.

I will have the larger size in antique brass in a day or so.

I have some spares if anyone wants one or two. I'll have them up on my shop at http://www.kiltsrock.com/shop/
