Those are the $40 kid's pipes though guys. While I agree a $125 set of pipes won't be good, the ones this guy is playing are a joke. No air goes into the bag, and you play mouth piece alone. http://larkinthemorning.com/product....27s+Bagpipe_E_

Trust me, I bought a set for my son one Christmas and later returned them they sucked so bad. My son (3 at the time) wouldn't even touch them.

Of course on looking again, I could be wrong and it could be these ones (still no air in the bag) http://larkinthemorning.com/product....arlor+Pipes_E_

There is no cheap pipe because of supplies and demand.

I don't know...there seems to be a point where he takes his mouth off the mouthpiece and the sound keeps going...that would point to the air going through the bag. I often see some sets listed as "half-size"...perhaps these were one of those as opposed to the kids set or the full-size el cheap-o pipes. Whatever the case, it IS pretty funny.

The sound is out of sync with the video by at least three seconds, and I think he is filling the bag, but the delay makes it hard to correlate his movements with the tone fluctuations. It's evident that he's not a piper; he didn't even find the thumb hole 'til the last few seconds!

Yeah those are junk. I know, because I had a chance to put some air through some about 8 years ago. I was fooling around, but really trying to make a good sound. I'm a trumpet player, and I sounded about as good as that guy in the video. The air does go to the bag, but they are so cheaply made, containing probable air obstructions within the construction. Obviously, the reed in the chater is a joke, and I believe the drones are reed-less. So most of the pitch actually comes out of the chanter, if you can even call it a chanter...

That guy is really trying to find some pitch center, that's why it's so swirlly sounding.
