Actually, I am quite in agreement with your prior post. And everyone should appreciate that as equally passionate and valid. My comments were intended to supplement that point of view a bit.
I believe there is a natural personallity trait, that we all have to some degree, that gives us the urge to gather and collect. Whether it is old cars, old books, teaspoons, shoes, postage stamps, beer cans, single malts, comic books, or kilts... the basic instinct to collect is at work. Perhaps a throwback to hunter-gatherer survival?
We humans are interesting and complex creatures. I don't think anyone really understands why we do some of the things we do.
