Sorry about that. I guess I just stupidly assumed that everyone new Ca meant California.

I am so pleased you raised this one, Erin. I mentioned it a year or more ago, asking if everyone would complete the "location" box in their profile, but that fell on stony ground.
Knowing where people come from, even if it is just the Country, makes their postings so much more complete - and interesting!

Makes loads of sense. I'll change mine. FYI, Colorado Springs, Colorado, is on the front range of the Rocky Mountains. My house sits at about 6500 ft.

In the US, we are so familiar to the abbreviations, that we use them all the time. This is particularly prevelant with long names and those that are more than one word. Such as:
NC-> North Carolina
SC->South Carolina
GA-> Georgia
ND-> North Dakota
Tenn. or TN-> Tennessee
Miss.-> Mississippi
CA/ Cali-> California.
ALSO->
Sass.-> Sassakatchewan (sp?)
BC-> British Columbia
NS-> Nova Scotia
Ont-> Onterio
There are others I see I don't expect ANYONE to understand unless they live over and down here:
OBX-> Outer Banks, North Carolina (where Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge is in pieces on the shallow sand bars)
HHI-> Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
ATL-> Atlanta, Georgia
GSP-> Greenville-Spartanburg area in South Carolina
Triad-> part of North Carolina, including Raliegh and Durham.
CSA-> Confederate States of America (American Civil War reference, on either a historian and/or reinactor -who KNOWS the period- car OR an idiotic racist's car who has NO idea of the history and reasons of the war refered to).
Others use the same:
GB/UK-> Great Britain/United Kingdom
ESP-> Spain
SCO-> Scotland (which I've also seen abreviated as SC)
I guess it just goes to show that an international society forgets that others don't know what one knows and references, but also that we all know more about each other than we realize. I'm actually QUITE amazed at what I don't have to look up in these discussions on the forum! :mrgreen:
PS-> I've changed my profile (didn't realize it would fit in space provided).
