At ground floor level there is a kitchen and several cellars, but very dark inside so we climb up the first part of the spiral staircase to enter the laird's hall.
The grand fireplace in the laird's hall.
Climbing further up the spiral staircase we can look back down towards the laird's hall.
At the top of the staircase, Historic Scotland have laid a wooden floor in what would have been the chambers (bedrooms) - there were four separate chambers in this area, each with their own fireplace.
The view from up here is fine, though there are muckle trees which have grown as high as the tower. Compare with Smailholm Tower, visited earlier in the season.
