ai wore mai Grey Douglas kilt (of course) ... wi' mai new kiltsrock T-shirt... (ta KT!)
Drumlanrig is weel kent fur it's massive art and antique collection... an they recently decided tae stop allowing guests tae take photos inside the castle... a real shame....
ai did sneek this yin pic in the inner courtyard... it shows the winged heart which is the symbol o' Sir James Douglas... Robert The Bruce's best mate... Bruce entrusted Douglas tae carry his heart (after he wuz deid of course) to the next crusade... an when Douglas fell in battle he hurled the silver casket containing the Kings heart with the cry "Forward Brave Heart" which is where the saying "Braveheart" comes frae... an it has naught tae dae wi' William Wallace...
Cool! Thanks for the pics (and all the pics you post). This is your guest house next to your B&B, right?
Dramlanrig made international news when this painting... "The Madonna and the Yarnwinder" by Da Vinci was stolen from Drumlanrig Castle in on 27 August 2003. see the BBC article here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3620770.stm
This one has been on my list of things to do from the very beginning. Thanks for the pics! Very nice.

Awesome pics. did they have a wee pub with some fine scotch, or just a lot of art and historical relics?
