Who makes own bonnets/balmorals?

I am curious, So who makes their own bonnets.

I am trying to make my own close to the balmoral style. Thus far, they all look "off" to me, though no one else seems to think so. The ones I think look OK are more of a tam than a balmoral, but all wider headbands look wierd to me in my mirror.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!

How do you do it?

We have step-by-step threads for all sorts of things, what about making a balmoral/bonnet one.

I have a pattern with instructions that is still on the market, It works real well.

I contacted a some-what local store that I buy ALL my felted (non-worsted) wool from and they carry these patterns. She looked at them for me and we discusses them over the phone and they are EXACTLY what I am making already. So, I guess it is just my perfectionism.

For those who make bonnets in the cut-&-sew type, what is a good headband portion hieght? I am guessing by trial and error that it is 1" for a tam/bluebonnet and 1.5" to 2" for a balmoral style. Over 2 inches looks WAY off, 3" looks ABSURD!!! Is that about right?
