Dallas Texas
Well I'm going to be in Dallas Sept 22-24 for a Science Fiction convention; http://www.fencon.org/ I stay pretty busy at these events, but if there is anything happening in up there let me know! I'd like to meet some fellow x-marksers if I can. Better yet, if you're into sci-fi at all come by the con, I'll be the guy in the kilt!

Hey Zardoz,
If you want to escape Fen-Con on Friday night, Trinity Hall (Irish Pub) has a bunch of Celtic bands playing:
FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd SPECIAL EVENT!
Traditional Irish Music Education Society is hosting a fund-raising Irish Music Festival evening at the Pub! Live music with a different band every hour starting at 6 Pm and running until the license runs out!
Block the date and be ready to experience the best music in town since North Texas Irish Festival in March!
If I'm looking at the Fen-Con site correctly, it's being held at the Holiday Inn Select North Dallas, which is about 3 miles from my office.
Send me an email or PM and let's plan to get together.
Mark
p.s. Any other DFW kilties for this weekend?

I work at ACS, just north of Citiplace and a bit south of Trinity Hall. I was thinking of going there after work. Here's some more info I got from Jill Burt this morning:
This Friday, September 22nd, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Trinity Hall Pub & Restaurant, there will be an annual benefit for the O’Flaherty Irish Music Retreat featuring the top Irish bands in the area.
Performers will include the Trinity Hall Session Players at 5 p.m., Irish Rogues at 6 p.m., Jigsaw at 7 p.m., Behan at 8 p.m., Beyond the Pale at 9 p.m., Shift (formerly Busker’s Gate) at 10 p.m., Rogers, Hicks and Alfonso at 11 p.m. and Spriggan at midnight.
All of these bands are donating their time and talents so that you can make donations in support of the retreat. There is no admission charge, and a raffle will be held after each set for various prizes. Also, a portion of Trinity Hall’s food sales will go to the retreat.
Help support the O’Flaherty Irish Music Retreat of which the SCMA is a major sponsor. This year’s retreat will be held in Midlothian, Texas on October 27-29 and will bring into Texas some of the best Irish music instructors in the world.
For more information about the benefit, please go to http://www.irishtradmusic.org/retreatbenefit.htm or call the retreat office at 972-238-8724.

I apologize for missing this, I was pretty busy at work and checked out of all my forums for a week or so...
Anyway, keep me in the loop for other upcoming kilted events in the DFW area!
BTW, anyone going to the Celtic Heritage Festival coming up the weekend of the 14th and 15th??

A bit late (as I was away from the computer most of last week, and playing catch-up this week) -- I did meet Zardoz and his niece for dinner and beverages. We had a very nice visit. He got a couple of pics of us, but since they're on * * real film * *, we'll have to wait until he finishes the role and gets them developed. (I can speak, since I don't have a digital camera yet, either!)
To be continued . . .

Hey Mark,
Nice meeting you too! Thanks for making the time to come see me! I hope the sci-fi crowd didn't freak you out too much! I will get those pics developed soon, but then how to post them? I'm the least computer savvy person I know!
BTW, I complained to the hotel GM about our problems with the food service, closed pool, and room issues. Most of their problems were because they were going though a ownership/ management/ staffing changeover that week! They had a lot of unhappy guests, but he refunded half my bill for the weekend, so I feel a little better about it!
