Green light on a UK.
So, I've been wanting to try one of these out. I just couldn't decide which model I wanted to go with. Also, I kept buying various other kilts and/or accessories.
So, a couple of weeks ago I got promoted to "Laboratory Manager." Which other than the promotion includes more hours (more than I really want, but that's ok.) So, I think that's a good excuse and validation to order a Utilikilt. So, the Mrs. said "yeah, go ahead and order ANOTHER one." They're all the same in her eyes... well not really... but the money is.
I think I'm going to order an Original. I like the olive. But, really it's going to depend on what they have in stock. I'm not really willing to wait 8 weeks for a UK. I may even get a corduroy. Who knows, until I get on the phone.

I have several UK's (as well as traditional tartans). I really like them - easy to maintain and loads of carrying space. The corduroys are nice as well, very soft feel.

Yes....well....my corduroy just arrived. I tried it on and I think I'm in love.
It's in the washer now.
I bought it for those cold winter desert nights we have here.
It's so soft!!!

Can you give us a full review once you've worn it a time or two? And pictures maybe?? I'm really leaning to this one as I absolutely ADORE corduroy. I just hope they have a tan one in my size... that red and the blue are both way too bright.

The red and blue are indeed very bright. Congrats on the promotion and the opportunity to buy more kilts. Make sure to pay special attention to the sizing instructions, and if in doubt round up. My UK's are two to three sizes bigger than my pants size. Inventory is low right now, because they just moved their factory, but if you're lucky they might have something you like in stock. Let us know how it goes.
Best regards,
Jake

Good Luck on your order given the problems Graham has had with UK.
I like the coords as well. To me, I think the website pictures show the fabric a lil brighter than in person. The red looks more rust to me in person than on the website and the blue looks more postal blue than a neon/electric blue.
Congrads on your promotion and your future UK

Hey just my .02 but IMHO you should get the workman's. I LOVE mine. I have the black one and it can look a little on the fromal side with a button down white dress shirt, or it can be bad @@S with a slipknot tee and combat boots. It is the one I've worn most, to occasions where I may expect a bad reaction to kilts. I have changed oil in it, stripped floors in it, gone survival camping in it, spilled beers on it, and the kilt washes great! I know for SURE that olive, sage, and tan do NOT hide hideous stains like black or camo can. With black, even with the worst scenario (bleach), you just use black Rit dye, and it looks like new.
As to why I advise the workman's? It is made of a heavier material, much more durable. No little burn holes from working on the grinder, as with the original. It has a LOT less swing than a traditional kilt, but it gets better the more you beat it up and wash it. And most of all... the strorage, this thing is incredible! I don't think I will order another Utilikilt unless it is a workman's. If I want a utility STYLE kilt, I'd shell out the extra $ for a tailored one from Freedom or Bear etc. I know you have gotten kilts from Rocky. Those are made for YOU. Utilikilts are NOT to your exact size. Just my thoughts...
