Sorry Graham,
Sounds like the Ol' Coyote is all over you on this. What boggles the mind for me is that this order goes way way way back long before the move...many months ago...like January or early spring.
Further, I'd been in contact with Guenviere (?) over something else and mentioned to her that Graham was ordering from Tazmania and that he was what most folks in any industry would call a key customer/prospect. She promised fine service...shows what little clout I have...
The problems I've had with UK over the years have been with product quality or long jones periods, but never over three months...never apathetic neglect.
Can't help but feel sad about the situation, always thought you'd enjoy a UK in your collection.

I have ordered through their web site and via the phone several times and every order has been perfect, including the one that just arrived a few days ago.
Usually I am the one who seems to have the problems but I guess I've been lucky.

To be fair, they get a lot of repeat business and many favorable reviews... so they must have something going for them. Different strokes for different folks.

I agree Blu, compared with PV, hemp and other better fabrics I don't think UK's look especially good. I guess I swallowed all the hype and thought '..worth a try".
Still I should hold my judgement until I've seen one (that fits).
Certainly, I will never again buy a kilt without straps, my weight fluctuates too much and I need the adjustment.

Ron, thanks for putting in a word, even if it had no effect, and for your sympathies.

Hey Graham,
I've figured it out. If you'd have received your UK promptly, loved it, and put in a good word on the boards, it would have probably resulted in an order surge that UK couldn't handle from the boom in orders they'd get from the good word of a man held in such high regard in the kilt world.
As far as weight goes, when/if the properly sized UK shows up think you'll find it has some flexibility at the waist...at least the workman's does. Think its because it rides under the belly that's doing the flexing...if you wear it there...
I'm amazed that my weight yo-yos up and down about 15 lbs and the same UKs still manage to fit me.

Sorry Ron, can't agree with your theory, I don't think my influence is that great
and no, I hate wearing kilts low, I like them a wee bit below the naval, do you sea? (OK bad pun)

I don't think I like kilts WITH straps. I have a denim Union kilt I wear around the house and the straps just sort of hang there.....I don't know what to do with them....they sort of curl out from the kilt and they are a bother....then my cat grabs them and tries to pull them off the kilt....WHILE I AM WEARING IT!
Heaven forbid I should have to get the kilt off in a hurry....
I much prefer the UKs with the snaps....but I think it's all a matter of what you get used to....

Since you mentiioned RKilts, I went out to their web site again to see what it was all about.
Then I remembered them.....a Utilikilt is three times more expensive than the MOST expensive jeans I ever bought and an RKilt is *gasp* SIX TIMES more expensive?
Gee.....I hope they last forever at that price.
I cannot foresee a day when I will be able to spend that much on a kilt.

My father taught me to spend my money on VALUE....
RKilts are definately that.

Graham,
I agree with ya. My older UK's lasted a lot better than my current one, and I'm pretty much giving up on them myself. The current one will become something that I wear when I'm running off to visit the auto wreckers and will be pulling auto parts from a wreck, or for when I'm doing gardening. It has so many holes in it that it no longer looks good. A shame, since the black survival model is the one that looks the best when new. But, as it ages, it's the one to fall apart the first. I hate to say this, but I think Utilikilts has lost another customer (and former employee).
