how far above your naval is your natural waist?
I think i have a really high natural waist. But i don't really know (I don't really go around look at other guys natural waist, you see)
If you guys don't mind me asking, how high above your naval is your natural waist?

I've alway's understood the natural waist to be an inch or two above the navel. That's where most kiltmakers measure for a traditional kilt.
If I'm wrong correct me.

I am certainly no expert, however I take my measurement 1" above the navel.

Well, comparing one of your physical features with other guys will be like comparing any other physical feature with other guys. You can get all the comparisons you want, but you'll still be what you are. Dress/act/brag accordingly.

I've heard that if you stand and bend to the side that the "hinge point" will be your natural waist.

I thought it was measured at the top of your iliac crest (top of the pelvic bone for you non-anatomists).

Hmmm...navel is about 1" below the waist on me.
But a history or having noted the position of navels on women who have been featured in those magazines that I "only read for the articles" kind of makes me think that there's a wide range of positions for the navel...some higher, some lower than the waist.

That's your pant waist not your kilt waist. I measure my kilt waist at about 1.5" above my navel just at the bottom of my rib cage. But then I like the high-waisted military look.

I wear my kilts where they seem most comfortable, around my waist and the top of the kilt is usually about 1 inch above my naval, just under my rib cage.
If you wear a Prince Charlie doublet the vest should cover the top of the kilt. The vest is quite short, so you can see how far up your waist the kilt should sit. A lot of people are wearing their kilts too low on the waist these days and it looks awful to see the white shirt between the bottom of the vest and top of the kilt. Better for them to wear an Argyll jacket which is longer.
