Don't rule out Matt Newsome at the Tartans museum. He makes great box pleated kilts

You mentioned that you are: primarily interested in hipsters. Most of us here have been talking about more traditional kilts, not "Hipsters". It looks as if you are seeking more contemporary styles, we do have kilt makers here that do some of that, I suggest you look at Renegade Kilts, Neo-Kilts, and the like.
